BA Fundamentals (8 hours)
Business analysis is a core competency all project/product teams must understand, yet so many teams fail
to master the basics of this important work. In fact, PMI research has uncovered that one of the top
reasons for project failure is attributed to poor requirements. Whether you are managing the project or
personally responsible for the business analysis related activities of requirements development and
management, your success is based upon understanding business analysis fundamentals.
This course has been developed to provide the basics of business analysis. Beginning with an overview of
what business analysis entails, students are then led through a thorough description of the areas of
knowledge, commonly performed processes, basic terminology, and a comparison between project
management and business analysis. If you are not confident in your understanding of business analysis or
are looking for a course to refresh your skills, this course provides a solid introduction and baseline of
knowledge that no team member should be without.
Course objectives:
●Recognize the major activities that comprise business analysis.
●Compare/contrast project management to business analysis.
●Define core business analysis terminology.
●Identify the 14 characteristics of well-written requirements.
●Differentiate between business analysis for waterfall and agile.

PMI-PBA Prep (35 hours)
Business analysis is a competency that teams must master to deliver a solution of value - let alone deliver
on-time, on-budget, and within scope. Yet according to PMI Pulse of the ProfessionTM research (2016),
poor requirements are a leading cause for project failure. Whether you are responsible for eliciting the
requirements or leading the project, acquiring solid business analysis skills is imperative.
This course provides an in-depth review of the business analysis processes, knowledge, skills, and
techniques as discussed in PMI's business analysis standards, The PMI Guide to Business Analysis and
Business Analysis for Practitioners: A Practice Guide. The materials within this course provide a solid
overview of the activities commonly performed by those fulfilling business analysis roles on programs
and projects.
This PMI-PBA® prep course is intended to prepare students who are interested in sitting for the
PMI-PBA® exam as well as anyone who is interested in completing an in-depth exploration of the
business analysis profession, including business analysis managers, PMI directors, and heads of business analysis
consultancy practices.
Course objectives:
●Identify the six business analysis knowledge areas and what each covers as presented in The PMI
Guide to Business Analysis.
●Recognize how to apply the various processes, tools, techniques, knowledge, and skills that
comprise the business analysis profession.
●Develop a comprehensive viewpoint into how business analysis is utilized to support successful
projects, programs, and portfolio management.
