Description: Chaos Theory, the idea that small causes may have large effects in general. This is, also, known as the Butterfly Effect, closely associated with the work of Edward Lorenz. As humans, do we have the ability to affect another human being? Who do you affect? What is your impact on those you come in to contact with, even if for only a moment? John C. Maxwell in his book Becoming a Person of Influence shares “When you empower people, you’re not influencing just them; you’re influencing all the people they influence. That’s impact!”.
Talent Triangle: Leadership
Presenter: Theresa Mickelson, DTM
District 19 Director 2019-2020
Theresa Mickelson (pronounced Mike-el-son) is a mountain mover. She has earned one of the highest Leadership and Communication Awards from Toastmasters International, the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) twice. A 13-Year veteran of Toastmasters International, she is now serving as the District 19 Director, the first ranking officer of one of 120 districts in the world. She is a long-time piano instructor, the District Director for Toastmasters, a Rotarian, an Executive Office Manager for Stonefield Investment Advisory for the past decade, a John C. Maxwell Coach, Teacher and Speaker, and an author. A home-grown Cedar Rapidian, she and her husband reside in a 106-year-old home, have 2 adult daughters (one that just got engaged-yay!), a Papillon dog named Phillip, and a black cat named Gink, like pink but with a “G”.

Please note that since September 2018, due to PMI process change in reporting PDUs, we will not be reporting PDUs on behalf of members for Chapter Meetings. The members will have to claim on their own manually. We still plan to do for Yearly Professional Development Day (PDD). Please refer to the link for more info.
