August 2019 Chapter Meeting

Program: Unlocking the Mysteries of Lean………..in the Office

Description: Most people are aware that Lean, as a method of continual improvement, was founded in the area of manufacturing, specifically inside Toyota. The focus of this session is to dispel the mysteries of how the basics of Lean can be applied in the office. Plan now to attend to gain the valuable understanding of how the 5 simple Principles of Lean and the 8 types of Waste can rock your world, at work and at home.

Presenter: Dr. Deb Oliver, Executive Director 

Dr. Deb Oliver has a passion for everything that involves organizations and management. She has a rich history of more than 35 years working in several different types of organizations. Deb worked for 8 years at Rockwell Collins as a Lean Consultant where she led 50+ teams in Process Improvement. After Rockwell, she worked for the Iowa Quality Center for 3+ years and developed the Workplace Lean Program which focuses on Continuous Improvement in the office/service areas of organizations. Deb accepted a fulltime faculty position at Mount Mercy in 2007, earned her PhD in Organizations/ Management in 2009 from Capella University and served as the Director of Mount Mercy University’s MBA Program (’08-’16). In 2012, she developed the Master of Strategic Leadership Program also at Mount Mercy University and also served as its Director. In 2016, she returned again to the Iowa Quality Center and became the Executive Director where she enjoys working alongside a variety of the Iowa’s organizations in their journey toward excellence.

To obtain a refund for a cancellation made before the deadline, send a request to the VP of Finance, Please note your name, event, event date, and payment amount in your e-mail.

Please note that since September 2018, due to PMI process change in reporting PDUs, we will not be reporting PDUs on behalf of members for Chapter Meetings. The members will have to claim on their own manually. We still plan to do for Yearly Professional Development Day (PDD). Please refer to the link for more info.
