Presenters: Phil Braun & Mitch Golden, PMP
Phil Braun is a Contract Project Manager with SMART Solutions and is currently on an engagement to Alliant Energy.
In the last 15 years he has gained a wealth of knowledge working as a Project Manager, Project Schedule and most recently performing Project Controls. He has worked for Cabela’s, American Family Insurance and CUNA Mutual group before working for Alliant Energy where he has been for the last 3 years. Phil has worked on a wide range of projects including opening new retail stores, installing a new two-way system and most recently working on the Smart Meter Implementation Project. He has also been an administrator for Primavera P6, MS Project Server, and Planview project scheduling software.
Phil received his Bachelors of Business Management from Chadron State College in Nebraska. He also has a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from the University of Denver. Phil resides in Waterloo, WI with his wife Lynette and two daughters. He enjoys being a coach for his local swim team, fishing, and video gaming.
Mitch Golden is a Senior Strategic Project Manager with Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids, IA.
He started his career as a software developer, later transitioning to business systems analysis and then into project management. Mitch has been managing technology projects since 2004, in various industries including financial services, transportation, and most recently in energy delivery with Alliant Energy. As one of several project managers working on a program to install 700,000+ Smart Meters throughout the state of Iowa, Mitch is responsible for managing system deployments and technology upgrades needed to realize the objectives of this large initiative.
Mitch received both his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and an MBA with a specialization in Information Systems from Northern Illinois University, as well as a Masters in Project Management (MPM) from the Keller Graduate School of Business. He earned his CAPM in 2007 and his PMP in 2011. Mitch and his wife reside in Cedar Rapids, IA and are nearly empty nesters as their oldest daughter studies Business at Iowa State University and their younger daughter will likely soon follow. In his spare time, Mitch enjoys working as a “Tech Dad” for his daughters as they’ve participated in High School Show Choir competitions, and also outdoor cooking (grilling, BBQ, etc.) for friends and family.
