Program Title The Art and Science of Negotiations Program Description This interactive workshop will consist of many important topics to begin learning the skills needed to be an effective negotiator, such as distributive vs integrative negotiations, bargaining styles, relationships, interests, leverage, making offers, concessions, and ethics. PDU: 1.5 Talent Triangle Strategic 1.0 Leadership 0.5 Speaker Dr. Russell Guay Dr. Russell Guay is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Northern Iowa. He holds degrees from Northern Illinois University (BS - Human Resource Management; MBA) and from the University of Iowa (PhD - Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management). His teaching interests are in the areas of Leadership, Negotiations, and HR. He is the recipient of several teaching awards including the 2014 University Book and Supply Outstanding Teacher Award, 2016 NISG Above and Beyond Excellence in Teaching Award, and 2017 College of Business Administration Distinguished Teaching Award. Professor Guay's research interests leadership, fit, personality, work attitudes, and job performance. For his research, he received the 2016 College of Business Administration Distinguished Scholarship Award. His research has been published in many journals such as Personnel Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, Human Resource Management, Human Performance, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Applied Psychology: An International Review, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Personality and Individual Differences, as well as the APA Handbook of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Prior to returning to academia, Professor Guay spent 10 years in HR in the manufacturing, hospitality, and consulting industries. He has worked in all aspects of HR, with primary focuses in staffing, training, governmental compliance, and employee relations.
