Program: Economic Development
Description:Economic Development focuses resources in the region for business investment and job creation. At this session we will focus on interstate business attraction projects and strategies including the coordination of city, state and private resources. We’ll discuss site development in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City region as well as financial mechanisms, and state and local public policy issues.

Presenter: Brian Crowe
Brian Crowe is the Director of Business Attraction at the Cedar Rapids/ Iowa City Corridor Development Corporation. In this role Crowe leads the efforts to promote the region through collaboration with economic development partners for the purposes of business attraction in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Corridor. Prior to serving in this regional role, Crowe was the Economic Development Strategist at the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance where he led the strategy around business retention and expansion and business attraction, as well as facilitated community development projects around brownfield/grayfield redevelopments and workforce housing. Crowe also performed economic development at the statewide level at the Iowa Economic Development Authority where his focus was working with renewable energy manufacturing firms, and businesses with operational headquarters in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic United States, and Europe. Crowe has a BA from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and lives in Marion with his wife Amanda, and two girls Ellie and Lillian.
