Mentorship Program Welcome
Seeking Mentors and Mentees!!
Welcome to the PMI-Eastern Iowa Chapter Pilot Mentoring Program!
The Mentoring Program pairs experienced PMP-certified project managers with individuals who are new to the project management profession or looking to expand their knowledge in a specific area.
This is a new program for the Chapter in 2021.
The primary reason why our chapter is adding a pilot mentorship program is to share our knowledge and experiences with each other, so we can be the best project managers we can be. Our successful projects are a positive reflection on our chapter in our communities.
In addition, the mentorship program gets chapter members involved as mentors, mentees, or both. While getting involved, chapter members can enjoy sharing or learning many varied topics.
Example Mentorship Program Topics:
- Agile project management
- Learning project management in a specific industry such as health care or government
- Learn a new tool, such as Microsoft Project
- Increase knowledge in a process such as Risk Management
- Learn more about project management for beginning project managers
- Team building
- Managing large and/or complex projects
- Career Advancement
Not only can you make an impact on someone's life, or learn something new that you can immediately apply on your project, you earn PDUs while doing it.
Mentors can claim their time spent for mentoring as a “Give back- Share knowledge” to the community
Mentees can claim their time spent as part of “Education- Informal Learning”
The PMI-EIC chapter is currently seeking five Mentors and five Mentees for this pilot program. Let us know what your interests are, and we will match you up with someone who is seeking knowledge, or someone who can provide their experiences.
It is the PMI Eastern Iowa Chapter’s goal to offer Mentorship opportunities in as many forms as possible. Mentorship programs exist in the following areas:
- Chapter Member Mentorship
- Student Mentorship
Chapter Member Mentorship Program:
The Chapter Member Mentorship Program pairs experienced PMP-certified project managers with chapter members who are new to the project management profession, or looking to expand their knowledge in a specific area.
Let us know what your interests are, and we will match you up with someone who is seeking knowledge, or someone who can provide their experiences.
Student Mentorship Program:
With Student Mentorship, we are seeking students interested in gaining professional advice from mentors who can offer such advice based on their experiences. Meetings are scheduled at your own pace, and can be online, by phone, or in person.
Students: This is a great way to help achieve your academic and career goals! Our Mentorship team will work to pair you with an experienced Project Manager with a background in what is important to you. And it is free!
